ESOCS Devotional 10 September 2025 – I Will Save You
MEMORY VERSE: “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9 NLT
TEXT: ROMANS 10:1-15
Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for [a]Israel is that they may be saved. 2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
5 For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, “The man who does those things shall live by them.” 6 But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ down from above) 7 or, “ ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:
“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace,
Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

Several thousand years ago, there was a man who was chosen to follow a great leader. The leader possessed outstanding religious and moral qualities, and the man lived with him and learned from him for three years. He was part of a small group who were privileged to do so. In time, this man became disillusioned with his teacher and eventually betrayed him to his enemies when he had an opportunity to profit personally from the betrayal. But then, he became disillusioned with himself for what he had done. Disillusionment led to depression, depression to desperation, and desperation to despair.
In the end, he killed himself by hanging. That man’s name was Judas and his teacher was Jesus Christ. A lot of us are like Judas; we have betrayed the Lord in many ways. The good news is, there is still hope for us if we realize our errors and turn to Jesus for salvation.
God promises that when we put our faith in Jesus, we will be saved. Salvation isn’t something we do, it’s something God does for us.
For many of us, the most difficult part of salvation is not believing that Jesus is who He says He is. It’s continuing to believe, through all our ups and downs, that God will make good of His promise — that we have been and are being saved.
CHALLENGES
- Who do you say that Jesus is? If you have asked Jesus into your life, what are some ways your life reflects that decision?
- If belief is what saves us, why do you think God also asks us to profess our faith (or say it out loud)?
- What is one step you can take today to trust God’s plan for your life?
PRAYER POINT
- Lord Jesus, come into my life today, be my Lord and personal Saviour, forgive my sins and make me whole, reign in my life, in Jesus name Amen.
