ESOCS Devotional 10 November 2024 – Ministry of Information
MEMORY VERSE: “And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant. And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by.” Luke 18:36-37 KJV
TEXT: LUKE 18:31-43
Then He took the twelve aside and said to them, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be [a]accomplished. 32 For He will be delivered to the Gentiles and will be mocked and insulted and spit upon. 33 They will scourge Him and kill Him. And the third day He will rise again.”
34 But they understood none of these things; this saying was hidden from them, and they did not know the things which were spoken.
35 Then it happened, as He was coming near Jericho, that a certain blind man sat by the road begging. 36 And hearing a multitude passing by, he asked what it meant. 37 So they told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. 38 And he cried out, saying, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
39 Then those who went before warned him that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
40 So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be brought to Him. And when he had come near, He asked him, 41 saying, “What do you want Me to do for you?”
He said, “Lord, that I may receive my sight.”
42 Then Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has made you well.” 43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.

Information is a critical part of human existence. In fact, information is life. If you are not informed, you will certainly be deformed. Deformation leaves you at the mercy of the world, as so many things will certainly pass you by. The blind man on this faithful day heard a very important person is passing his usual sitting point. On hearing the noise from the multitude, he inquired what it was and was rightly informed that Jesus was passing by.
The blind man got his healing miracle on the spot because someone gave him the information and he acted on it promptly. The burden for us then is how much are we executing our responsibilities as information ministers? How many lives have been transformed, thanks to the information you supplied them? How many persons have been saved because you correctly passed the message of salvation to them?
Beloved, how many persons have come out of sickness or diseases because you gave them the right health tips? What about job opportunities that you got wind of, how many persons benefitted by your correct dissemination of the information? Can you look back and enumerate how many believers have had their spiritual fervency, intensity and buoyancy rekindled because you communicated rightly to them.
We live in a world where people hoard information as though it’s the money in their account. They have gotten and used the information for their benefit; yet, they cannot relate it to the next person. For some others, they will keep it, then almost the expiry date is when they will now release it, at a time when the information will no longer be useful to the people. When you consciously know the fellow will not meet up the deadline, which is sheer wickedness.
Learn to correct and pass the right information to people, whether they enquired or not, as long you know the information will be heavily beneficial to the fellow. May God help us all.
- Be sensitive to the happenings around your environment.
- Don’t be destitute of information, make enquiries through all means (Radio, Television, News Paper, Internet).
- Kindly ensure that you only disseminate the right information.
- Father, thank you for passing this way today. Help me to be a good minister of information in order to help the helpless, in Jesus name. Amen.
