ESOCS Devotional 1 October
TEXT: Daniel 2:1 – 16 KJV
MEMORY VERSE: “The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, there is not a man upon the earth that can show the king’s matter: therefore there is no king, lord, or ruler that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean.” Daniel 2:10 KJV
As declared by the Psalmist in the book of Psalms Chapter 25:14, “The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will show them his covenant.” Ironically, we live in an era when people have left the revealed word of God to follow after false prophets, diviners, magicians and/or even “pastoral astrologers” to determine the future or to know the mind of God concerning their future. This ought not to be, for no man can reveal the things that pertains to man, except the Creator of man Himself; hence Jesus, when His disciples enquired of the signs of the end time, simply answered them saying, “But of that day and hour knoweth no man.….., but my Father in heaven” (Matt. 24:36).

In our text today, the magicians, diviners, and astrologers were helpless and could have lost their lives, for non-performance, except for the intervention of Daniel – the true man of God. Child of God, beware; the Bible contains all the prophecies you need. It is not in the seer or your choice prophet. Therefore, “Study to show thyself approved unto God” like Daniel. (2 Tim. 2:15).
CHALLENGES
- The Bible warns against the incidence of false christs and false prophets, who could have enormous powers to perform great signs and wonders, but are mere servants of the devil. So be careful.
PRAYER POINT
- Dear Lord, grant me the grace and wisdom to stay away from the false prophets of our time, and to pursue the wisdom that abound in the scriptures, so that I do not work against your divine plan for my destiny. Amen.
