TEXT: 2 KINGS 6:8:17
MEMORY VERSE: “And he answered, fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them” (2 Kings 6:16 KJV).
Fear is an attitude a believer must not build in himself. It is negative, and does not yield any positive thing. It has the capacity to make someone relegate himself to the background, and achieve nothing in life. It weakens courage, and often leads people into negative, unfruitful, and unproductive thinking.
It is important to know that fear is a deadly enemy that can cripple a person’s destiny. This includes the fear of the unknown, the future, failure, etc. Every man’s life tends to move in the direction of his most dominant fear. Job said, “For the thing I greatly feared has come upon me, and what I dreaded has happened to me. I am not at ease, nor am I quiet; I have no rest, for trouble comes” (Job 3:25-26).
But we are God’s children. Nothing should make us afraid. He “has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Tim. 1:7 KJV). We were redeemed from sin and all manners of fear by the Lion of the tribe of Judah; and He gave us His bravery and boldness freely to inherit.
Every believer should have His heart, a lion’s heart. That is one of our identities we inherited in Him. God is not happy when His children allow fear to envelop their hearts. He said to Jeremiah “Get up and prepare for action. Go out and tell them everything I tell you to say. Do not be afraid of them, or I will make you look foolish in front of them” (Jer. 1:17). The Bible encourages believers to “be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might” (Eph. 6:10 NKJV). Be brave always.
- Think positively and always study God’s word to be strong in faith.
- Oh God, help me to overcome fear through constant study and mediation on your word.
