Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed that civil service recruitment under his administration will be strictly needs-driven, not influenced by political patronage.
Speaking on Monday while declaring open the 123rd and 124th Combined Quarterly Meeting of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara said new employment will focus on filling critical shortages in essential sectors, particularly education and healthcare.
The Governor explained that the decision aligns with the major overhaul of the education sector proposed in the 2026 budget. He stressed that recruitment cannot precede the provision of adequate infrastructure.
“Do you employ people to go into a school where there are no classrooms? Employment will be based on the needs of the state,” he stated, emphasising the immediate necessity for teachers and medical personnel
