The Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area in Rivers State, Hon. David Omereji has announced a N30 million bounty on the heads of cult leaders and their sponsors linked to the recent killings in the Obelle community.
Omereji, disclosed this during a visit to the community on Tuesday. He condemned the violence, stating that it was tragic that criminal elements were causing unrest and loss of lives and property in the area.
Omereji reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to protecting lives and property, emphasizing that Obelle remains an integral part of Emohua’s jurisdiction. He urged displaced residents to return home, assuring them of safety.
The violence in Obelle was triggered by a supremacy clash between rival groups, resulting in the deaths of over 25 people, most of whom were innocent residents.
