Some women in the Obele community, Emohua Local Government Area, have been accused of aiding criminals by cooking for suspected cultists, according to Chairman Hon. Chidi Lloyd. He made the allegation while addressing residents on the security challenges facing the area.
Lloyd also announced a ₦2 million bounty on a suspected cultist, identified as Cairo, who allegedly killed Chief Dabrison Ferdinand during a council meeting in July. “We hear that women are cooking and sending food to the hoodlums. How do we stamp out crime if this continues? But let me assure you, we will do our best to end this menace,” Lloyd said.
The chairman vowed that Cairo would be brought to justice. “This man came here in broad daylight and gunned down Chief Dabrison while the council of chiefs were in a meeting. I am placing a ransom of two million naira on him. I want him dead or alive,” he added.
Lloyd directed the police and anti-cult units to track down all those linked to the killing and warned that “no one man can intimidate a whole community” under his watch. He also condemned the disruption of education and agriculture in Obele caused by hoodlums.
The announcement came on the day Lloyd officially assumed office after a handover by outgoing Sole Administrator Bright Ajinwor.
