Senator Ireti Kingibe has declared that former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nasir El-Rufai, delivered more impactful leadership than the current minister, Nyesom Wike.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm on Tuesday, Kingibe argued that while Wike has gained acclaim for his infrastructural projects in Abuja, many of them fall short of addressing the practical needs of residents.
She emphasized that the success of an FCT minister should not be measured by road construction alone, but by their responsiveness to the realities of everyday citizens.
“If you ask anyone from the FCT who the most effective minister has been, they’ll likely say El-Rufai. He built roads and was attuned to the people’s needs,” Kingibe said.
She criticized Wike for being disconnected from grassroots issues, citing instances such as the relocation of abattoirs without adequate provisions for infrastructure and security in the new sites.
“A good minister must be in touch with the people’s realities—not just build roads,” she added.
