The Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Rivers State Chapter, Chijioke Ihunwo says Chief of Staff, Rivers State Government House, Rt. Hon. Ehie Edison and five others declared wanted by the Police are innocent of the crime they are being accused of.
Ihunwo said this during a rally of SIM Movement in Obio-Akpor local government area of Rivers State on Sunday.
According to him, the Rivers State Police Command has made arrests concerning the allegations against Ehie, and wondered why the police will wake up and declare him wanted when the matter is in court.
“My friend and brother Rt. Hon. Ehie Edison and others who were declared wanted by the Nigeria Police Force are innocent. We are in a country where people will wake up and declare people wanted. The people who killed this man were arrested and charged to court by Nigeria Police Force here in Rivers State. As a youth leader in Rivers State, I made a statement that we are supporting the police to fish out those elements and they were arrested and charged to court, and today, they are declaring an innocent man, a man who didn’t do anything wanted to say he killed a DPO.”
“Rt. Hon. Ehie Edison and others are innocent people. I want to call on the Inspector General of Police not to be used by desperate politicians to cause crisis in this country. Eight years ago you said Ehie Edison was a good man, why now are you saying he killed a DPO,” he asked.
