The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has handed over a 753-unit housing estate in Abuja to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. The property was formerly owned by embattled former Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele.
The handover took place on Tuesday at the ministry’s headquarters in Mabushi, Abuja, according to a statement by the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Salisu Haiba.
“The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has taken delivery of the 753 housing units recovered by the EFCC,” the statement read.
The statement also noted that the houses would be sold to members of the public.
The development is part of ongoing efforts to recover and repurpose assets linked to alleged financial misconduct for public use.
