Operatives of the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested Archbishop Angel Oyeghe for alleged conspiracy, naira mutilation, and suspected money laundering.
Oyeghe, the self-acclaimed founder of Faith Healing Ministry in Warri, Delta State, was taken into custody on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, following a viral video showing several individuals spraying naira notes on a live cow during a church programme under her supervision.
The EFCC said the act violates Section 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act, 2007, which prohibits the abuse and mutilation of the national currency. The Commission added that it is currently tracking other suspects involved in the incident.
According to the EFCC, Archbishop Oyeghe has provided useful statements to investigators and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
