The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 37 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud in Awka, Anambra State.
The arrests were made by operatives of the commission’s Enugu Zonal Directorate during a sting operation at Commissioners’ Quarters on Dr. J. O. Ukwutinife Close in the Ifite area of the state. According to the EFCC, the operation was based on credible intelligence linking the suspects, all male, to fraudulent online activities.
Recovered items include six luxury cars, laptops, and mobile phones. The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
