The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 25 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud at a cybercrime training centre in Benin City, Edo State.
The arrest, carried out on Thursday, January 16, 2025, by operatives of the commission’s Benin Zonal Directorate, followed credible intelligence indicating that the premises were being used as a “yahoo academy” for training in internet-related fraud and other criminal activities.
During the operation, the EFCC recovered six exotic cars, as well as laptops and mobile phones believed to have been used for fraudulent purposes.
The commission stated that the suspects would face legal proceedings once investigations are concluded.
