Elder statesman, Edwin Clark, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to address the prolonged vacancy of 27 seats in the Rivers State House of Assembly.
In a petition to INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, Clark expressed concern over the lack of representation, describing it as a violation of the people’s right to participate in governance. “The absence of lawmakers has denied the people their rightful voice in governance,” he stated.
Clark urged INEC to fulfill its constitutional obligation by organizing by-elections to fill the vacant seats without further delay.
