The burial of elder statesman and former Federal Commissioner for Information, Pa Edwin Clark, has been scheduled for Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in his hometown of Kiagbodo, Burutu Local Government Area, Delta State.
According to a statement from his eldest son, Penaowei Clark, funeral activities will begin on Wednesday, May 7, with a lecture in his honour at the NAF Conference Centre and Suites in Abuja. A valedictory session at the Senate Chamber will follow on May 8, and a Day of Tribute will be held on May 9 at the same venue.
Other events include a wrestling contest in Yenagoa and a Service of Songs at St. James’ Anglican Church, Asokoro, Abuja, on May 10. A Boat Regatta, masquerade display, and candlelight memorial will take place across Kiagbodo, Yenagoa, and Abuja on May 11.
A commendation service at the National Christian Centre, Abuja, is scheduled for May 12, followed by a valedictory court session at the High Court of Justice, Warri.
Clark’s remains will be transported from Abuja to Yenagoa and then to Delta State. On May 13, his body will lie in state at Edwin Clark University, Kiagbodo, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., reception at 1 p.m., and interment at 5 p.m. A Thanksgiving Service will be held on Sunday, May 18.
Pa Edwin Clark, a leading figure in Nigeria’s South-South region and a former senator in the Second Republic, died in Abuja on February 17, 2025.
