The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of all individuals connected to the bullying incident at Igbinedion Education Centre.
The development follows the circulation of disturbing footage on social media showing a student being violently assaulted—flogged, punched, kicked, and stomped on—by fellow students. In response, the school authorities expelled several students implicated in the incident.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikoedem, the command disclosed that the arrests were made after a thorough investigation. He added that the suspects would be prosecuted at the family court in line with laws governing juvenile justice and child protection.
According to the statement, the incident stemmed from a disagreement on March 5, 2026, involving two 14-year-old female students and a fellow student. During the altercation, the victim allegedly made an offensive remark about the girls’ late father, which provoked the attack after school hours.
The situation escalated when a parent who attempted to intervene was also assaulted by the girls. The school management later stepped in and expelled the students for their actions.
Police further revealed that the following day, a male student—whose mother was attacked during the earlier incident—carried out another assault on the victim, intensifying the situation.
Authorities say all suspects will face legal proceedings as investigations continue.
