Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has pledged full compensation to the families of 16 hunters killed in Uromi, assuring them of both financial and material support.
Okpebholo made this commitment during a condolence visit to Torankawa in Bunkure Local Government Area, where he was accompanied by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other dignitaries. He announced additional aid, including cash and food donations, to assist the grieving families.
Expressing outrage over the killings, Okpebholo vowed that those responsible would face justice. “We will ensure that justice is served on those responsible for this heinous act,” he declared.
Meanwhile, hundreds of protesters, including family members and supporters of the victims, staged a peaceful demonstration. They carried placards demanding swift justice, with messages such as “Hunters are not criminals” and “We demand the speedy dispensation of justice in this matter.”
