Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has distanced himself from the South-South Governors’ Forum’s stance against President Bola Tinubu’s proposed state of emergency in Rivers State.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Okpebholo stated that he was not consulted before the forum opposed the president’s declaration. He clarified that he fully supports Tinubu’s efforts to restore peace and stability in Rivers State and the South-South region.
The South-South Governors’ Forum had earlier rejected the federal government’s move, but Okpebholo’s position marks a significant break from his regional counterparts.
