Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has donated 3,999 tonnes of food items to the federal government of Nigeria to distribute to its vulnerable citizens. This is to help ease the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Commissioner of Agriculture, Water Resources and Environment of ECOWAS, Sangare Sekou made this known on Saturday in Kano, while officially handing over the items to the government.

“This regional solidarity will be demonstrated through food donations of a total quantity of 3,999 tonnes of cereals comprising of millet and sorghum.” He said.

He noted that the gesture was to demonstrate the region’s solidarity with the government and good people of Nigeria .
