ABUJA — Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has called on President Bola Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in Nigeria’s security and economic sectors, citing the worsening conditions in both areas.
Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Daily on Friday, Ndume emphasized the need for the President to prioritize citizens’ welfare, security, and economic stability.
“Let the President forget about everything and concentrate on three things – security, welfare of citizens and economy,” Ndume said, urging Tinubu to channel full attention to those sectors.
The lawmaker also criticized the recent declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, calling it unexpected and questioning its necessity. Identifying as a democrat, Ndume said the move in the oil-rich state was surprising.
