PRESS RELEASE
The Rivers State Waste Management Agency has issued an advisory to the general public on indiscriminate dumping of waste and at unauthorized places. Any person or group of persons caught in such acts shall be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the extant laws of the land.
This advisory is sequel to the recent act of illegal dumping of waste by unscrupulous persons at the AGIP flyover, metres away from the Agency’s headquarters in Port Harcourt.
In a statement released by the office of the Special Adviser on Environmental Sanitation, Hon Prince Obi Ohia questioned the motives behind such reckless acts, thereby undermining the initiatives put in place by the Agency to restore the State to its Garden City status.
The acting Sole Administrator further said the Enforcement Team of the Agency are on the prowl and shall act decisively in curbing such tendencies.
