The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, shortly after his release from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
El-Rufai was granted bail at about 8 p.m. on Wednesday by the EFCC. However, moments after regaining his freedom, DSS operatives reportedly apprehended him at the premises of the anti-graft agency’s headquarters.
Sources said the DSS operatives had positioned themselves within the vicinity before taking him into custody.
His arrest by the DSS is said to be connected to allegations that he unlawfully intercepted the phone communications of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
As of the time of filing this report, officials of both the DSS and the EFCC are yet to issue an official statement on the development
