The attention of Etche Local Government Council has been drawn to online reports alleging that the chairman of council, Dr. Obinna Anyanwu, DSSRS, sponsored thugs that invaded, attacked, and destroyed equipments meant for the thanksgiving party of supporters of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, at Afara community in Etche on Sunday.
While, we do not wish to join issues with the peddlers of these false and misleading information, it is of great importance that we set the record straight for the interest of the general public.
Firstly, the Etche council chairman condemns the unwarranted and unprovoked attack and destruction of equipments at the venue of the rally organized by the simplified team in Etche Local Government Area.
The local government chairman, Dr. Obinna Anyanwu, never instructed, directed or sponsored any individual, or group to attack and destroy the already set equipments at the venue.
It is also important to clearly state that the Etche council chairman, Obinna Anyanwu, holds no grudges against the Rivers State governor and supporters of the governor who are members of the same political party he belongs to, the PDP.
On a final note: the general public is advised to disregard the misleading story with no substantive pictorial, voice or video evidence making round that the Etche council chairman sponsored the attack.
The chairman is an ambassador of peace, hence he has no records of violence and cannot sponsor any act of violence in a local government he governs or anywhere else.
Dr. Obinna Anyanwu remains committed to providing democracy dividends to the people of Etche, for which the people can attest to through the developmental strides going on in all the nineteen political wards in Etche.
