The Executive Chairman of Etche Local Government Area, Dr. Obinna Anyanwu, DSSRS, Saturday, commissioned an Ultra Modern Market comprising of comprising of 100 open stalls with an office, and toilet facilities at Odufor Ward 8 for the benefit of the locals.
Dr. Anyanwu said at the occasion, that his government initiated the ‘one ward, one project’ initiative in response to series of requests from the various communities across the local government to address specific challenges.
The Chairman said the construction of the Odufor Ultra-Modern Market was part of his administration’s effort to provide viable infrastructure that would impact on the lives of rural populace.
He noted that the execution of the market project would change the narrative as to what grassroots development and government’s responsibilities are all about.
Inaugurating the project, Member Representing Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency, Hon. Kelechi Nwogu, commended Obinna Anyanwu for the gigantic project sited in the area.
He asserted that the market project is an important one because of its direct impact on the people.
The Federal Lawmaker further appreciated Obinna Anyanwu for justifying the confidence reposed in him by Etche people through the initiation of people-oriented projects.
Kelechi Nwogu noted that the new market would assist the farmers in showcasing their farm produce thereby improving socio-economic activities of the people.
Earlier, A member of Odufor Community, Lawrence Njouku commended the council chairman for extending his giant strides to the people of Odufor Ward eight.
The event had in attendance; Executive Chairman of Omuma Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Chisom Nwaiwu, Rivers State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Austen Ben-Chioma, PDP Political Stalwarts, Local Government Council Appointees, Odufor Traditional Rulers and Chiefs, including Women and Youth groups.
