Dr Adaeze Chidinma Oreh was officially recognised as an Amujae Leader by former Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf during the closing ceremony of the 2025 Ibrahim Governance Weekend, held last week in Marrakech. The event, organised by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, celebrates leadership and good governance across Africa.
Dr Oreh was ceremonially inducted in a traditional Liberian welcome by Sirleaf, Africa’s first female president, as part of a new cohort of 13 women selected for the Amujae Initiative — a flagship program dedicated to advancing women’s public leadership on the continent.
As part of the weekend’s agenda, Dr. Oreh participated in a high-level panel titled Alumnae Reflections: Elevation and Impact, alongside Malado Kaba of Guinea. Both shared insights on their leadership trajectories and the influence of the Amujae Initiative on their professional and personal development.
Dr. Oreh spoke on her motivations for entering public leadership, the impact of the Amujae sisterhood, and her continued commitment to mentoring future generations of African women leaders.
“The future belongs to us, because we have taken charge of it,” said Sirleaf during the ceremony. “We have the commitment, we have the resourcefulness, and we have the strength of our people to share the dream across Africa.”
