A total of 2,302 Corps Members — 931 males and 1,371 females — of the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream II of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Tuesday, July 1, formally concluded their three-week orientation exercise in Rivers State.
The closing ceremony was held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Nonwa-Gbam, Tai Local Government Area, where the Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral (Rtd.) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, represented by Secretary to the State Government and Chairman of the NYSC State Governing Board, Prof. Ibibia Lucky Worika, addressed the Corps Members.
Ibas urged them not to make their one year of national service a waste, but to uphold the discipline instilled during the orientation. He reminded them of their duty to contribute selflessly to nation-building and to leave lasting legacies in their host communities.
“Always remember that you owe the nation the responsibility to serve selflessly and leave enduring legacies in your host communities and places of Primary Assignment,” he said. “Avoid acts that will tarnish the good image of the NYSC scheme. Integrate well in your host communities and respect their cultures and traditions.”
Also speaking, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe, encouraged the Corps Members to make the most of their service year by pursuing personal growth and creating positive impact.
