Some Nigerians have called for laws guiding aquatic animals, following the killing of a Dolphin at the Oyorokoto fishing settlement in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Shortly after the news went viral yesterday, some Nigerians took to different social media platforms to condemn the act, saying wildlife are to be protected and not killed.

They said dolphins especially are friendly creatures and often help fishermen to safety when in distress.

One of them said, “they are meant to be preserved for tourist and other aquatic life education. Nigerian fishermen need serious education on these things, you can’t just eat everything in the sea”.

“This is what people travel to Dubai just to snap with friendly dolphins, now you see them around here for free and start killing them? That’s not fair,” she added.
