Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria has frowned at the inclusion of Olusegun Obasanjo and Governor Wike of Rivers State as speakers at the forthcoming Annual General Conference of the NBA, by the leadership of the Bar.
Ibrahim Abikan, President of the Association in an interview on Saturday called on the NBA to remove the both leaders as speakers.
He said, Obasanjo and Wike are equally allegedly guilty of the same allegations filed against Governor El-Rufai of Kaduna state.
“We insist that if any standard is set for withdrawing El-Rufai, the same should apply to other speakers too. El-Rufai is a public officer and any other person who has the same record of allegations of human rights abuses should also be disqualified. We expect that the same standard should apply to Obasanjo and Wike,” he declared.
Nasir El-Rufai, the Governor of Kaduna State was earlier invited to speak at the Annual General Conference of the NBA. He was later dis-invited following series of petitions by members of the bar.
