Owner of the demolished Prodest Hotel in Eleme LGA, Gogorobari Kingsley has stated the governor’s action has thrown 60 of its staff, who are breadwinners in their families into the labour market.
Gogorobari in a statement yesterday insisted that the hotel did not disobey the lockdown order by the governor. He said they had since shut-down operations in line with the directives of the state government.
The Owner who stated that the business was what he used in taking care of his family and relatives, noted that the state government ought to be happy with him for gainfully employing Rivers residents.
Despite his plea of innocence, some persons in the community have made it known that the hotel violated the state government’s order. They alleged that the hotel was open for business while the order by the governor was in place.
Meanwhile, the state governor has defended his actions stating that the hotel disobeyed the executive order issued by the state. He said the demolition of the hotel was right as he promised to bring down more, if they violate the directive.
