Activist and political commentator Deji Adeyanju has publicly appealed to Omoyele Sowore, convener of the #RevolutionNow movement to consider joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC)-led opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In an open letter posted on Wednesday, Adeyanju acknowledged Sowore’s reputation for integrity and unwavering principles but urged him to set aside ideological rigidity for what he described as “a painful sacrifice” in the national interest.
“You will earn the permanent respect and admiration of all Nigerians if you make such a painful sacrifice,” Adeyanju wrote, arguing that politics is ultimately “a game of numbers” and that unity among opposition forces is critical in the current political climate.
He urged Sowore to ignore potential criticism from detractors, insisting that the activist has already proven himself as incorruptible and unrelenting in his fight for justice.
“Extraordinary circumstances call for extraordinary measures,” Adeyanju added, stressing that even institutions like churches are not free from internal contradictions. He concluded by reaffirming his respect for Sowore, regardless of the latter’s final decision.
