The All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, has called for the disbandment of the Taskforce on Street Trading and Illegal Motor Parks over the killing of a commercial driver in Port Harcourt, few days ago.
Spokesperson of the party, Darlington Nwauju in a statement on Wednesday, berated the state government over its failure to issue an official statement on the matter.
Nwauju, who described the act as shameful said the Taskforce has a terrible history of killing and destroying properties of Rivers people.
He called on the state government to ensure that adequate compensation is paid to widow of the deceased and scholarship given to her five children.
He also called on security agencies to with immediate effect ensure the arrest and prosecution of all those involved in the act.
Nwauju, on behalf of the party condemned the act noting that the APC places maximum premium on the sanctity of human lives, and will never encourage the use of untrained and unregulated agents in the enforcement of government policies.
