The Federal Government of Nigeria, has extended the deadline for linking SIM cards with National Identity Number NIN, by one month. The exercise which was scheduled to end April 6, 2021 will now end March 6, 2021.
Spokesperson of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Kayode Adegoke disclosed this in a Statement on Friday.
He said the decision to extend the deadline, was reached at the meeting of the Ministerial Task Force on NIN-SIM data linkage on Thursday.
Adegoke said the request for the extension was presented to President, Muhammadu Buhari who accepted and approved it.
He called on Nigerians to ensure they link their NINs with their SIMs before the expiration of the deadline.
