KEY VERSE:- “This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.” – (Isaiah 43:21)
TEXT: Isaiah 43:18-21 (KJV)
18 Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.
19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
20 The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen.
21 This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.

God reveals that He dwells in the praises of His people. He also makes it clear that His purpose for creating and sustaining us as humans is to show forth His praise. Fulfilling this essence of our creation attracts the presence of our Creator and His blessings into our lives, families and assembly. The Lord expects that we should possess grateful hearts and spirits with which to relate with Him.
Worshipping God is not a seasonal show; it is a continuous activity that the Lord expects from His people, whether the year is closing or beginning. Sadly, however, man chooses to praise God only occasionally and according to the observances of the times. He prefers to look at the old days that brought him sorrow, whereas God promises “a new thing” for him and for his habitat, including the “beast of the field…the dragons and the owls… the wilderness, and rivers in the desert”. “This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise” (Isaiah 43:21).
Our praises must be devoid of worldliness, gluttony and immorality when we celebrate the princely benefaction of God. He is holy, and will not make any appearance where there is licentious and wanton celebrations with wild merrymaking. Being holy, He will not tolerate any form of defilement, dishonour and disgrace expressed in worldly seasonal festivities.
People who have been redeemed from sin under the transaction at Calvary are those whose perpetual praises will be accepted by heaven. God sets them apart for Himself. He then goes ahead to give them the sanctified spirit that enables them to enter a rare atmosphere of praises and thanksgiving that ushers in His presence. The ensuing joy surpasses the epicurean experiences of the world’s festivals.
THOUGHT OF THE DAY: Showing forth the praises of God goes beyond occasional singing – it’s a lifestyle.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Leviticus 5-7
