DCLM Daily Manna 2026: DCLM Daily Manna 9 February 2026: Wheels of Divine Justice
Text: 2 Peter 2:4–10 (KJV)
For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; 5 and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly; 6 and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; 7 and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked 8 (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds)— 9 then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, 10 and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries,
KEY VERSE: 2 Peter 2:9
“The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished.”
A distinguished servant of God once attended a secondary school where discipline was strictly upheld. According to him, moral uprightness, justice, fairness, and equity guided both staff and students.
Behind this atmosphere was a clear system of reward and punishment that ensured order. Interestingly, the school principal—an avowed atheist—was the architect of this system.
Unknowingly, he was operating by the same principle through which God governs heaven and earth. However, unlike many human systems that are driven by fear or harsh consequences, God’s justice is ultimately motivated by love.
Today’s passage reveals that God gives everyone what they deserve at the appropriate time—whether angels or men. This truth serves both as a warning and an encouragement.
The wheels of divine justice may appear slow because God patiently looks for repentance in erring souls. He does not delight in punishment, for He desires that all should come to repentance. Nevertheless, when repentance is persistently rejected, the wheels of divine justice grind exceedingly fine.
On the other hand, those who, by grace, continue in righteousness are rewarded in due time with God’s favour and approval. While human justice systems strive for impartiality—symbolised by Lady Justice wearing a blindfold—they are often compromised by bias, influence, wealth, or power.
God, however, is the perfectly just and incorruptible Judge. Nothing escapes His all-seeing eyes. Darkness is as light before Him. Therefore, how you live, speak, and act—whether in secret or in public—matters greatly. There is always an unseen eye watching.
