DCLM Daily Manna 2026: DCLM Daily Manna 5 January 2026: God Watches Over You
Text: Psalm 121:1–8 (KJV)
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
2 My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.
6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
8 The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
KEY VERSE: Psalm 121:3
“He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.”
A little boy enlisted himself into the service of God in his local church. His commitment required him to attend early morning services daily. However, this meant travelling a considerable distance in the dark before daybreak. Although afraid of walking alone at such hours, he was determined to keep his obligation to God.
Sensing his fear, his father volunteered to help him. For years, the father would wake up very early, prepare his son, and personally walk him to church before returning home to get ready for his own duties.
The boy never walked alone—not because the road was safe, but because someone trustworthy was watching over him.
This beautifully illustrates God’s role in the life of every believer. God knows our fears and sees the dangers that lie along the pilgrim’s path to heaven. He has promised never to leave nor forsake His children.
Like the psalmist, we must lift our eyes unto Him for help, acknowledging that He is the Maker of heaven and earth and fully capable of keeping us.
God neither sleeps nor slumbers. He watches over us continually. He shields us from the scorching sun of affliction by day and the terror of uncertainty by night. He preserves our lives from all evil and secures our souls from the onslaughts of the enemy.
Wherever His children are—regardless of their station in life—His watchful eyes remain upon them. Truly, He is a faithful Father.
The psalmist demonstrates a deep understanding of God’s all-encompassing care. He shows us how to fully appropriate divine protection—by deliberately fixing our gaze on God, the Source of all help.
As we journey through this year, our confidence and hope must rest solely in the Almighty God, who alone has the power to protect us day and night. When the all-powerful God watches over a person, no force can snatch that person from His hand.
Trust in the Lord. He loves you deeply, knows the path you are taking, and is able to keep you safe until you reach your eternal home.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
No one ever outgrows his need for God.
