DCLM Daily Manna 2025: DCLM Daily Manna 4 October 2025: God Cares For You
KEY VERSE:
“The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.” – (Psalm 41:3).
READ: Psalm 41:1-3 ( (KJV)
Blessed is he who considers the poor;
The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.
2 The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive,
And he will be blessed on the earth;
You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies.
3 The Lord will strengthen him on his bed of illness;
You will sustain him on his sickbed.
Sickness and affliction breed fear, worry, and anxiety. The victim could become uncertain about his fate. If the condition does not improve quickly enough, especially after many attempts at seeking help, he may begin to think that there is no hope of recovery. He may feel abandoned and become disconsolate. But at such a time, God steps in and makes a change.
David, the writer of this Psalm, was quick to assure that God is merciful and would not abandon His children, irrespective of how dire their physical or health condition may seem. What He expects is that when difficult times like sickness arise, we should turn to Him in earnest prayer and supplication. That’s what David did in this Psalm. He begins by encouraging believers not to overlook the conditions of the poor and sick. He urges afflicted children of God not to lose sight of the Lord’s enduring mercy and willingness to deliver those burdened by sickness, pain, and suffering. They should, instead, turn to God in fervent prayer and expect that, as He said, He will preserve their lives and not allow them to be overtaken by death.
David was convinced that apart from healing, the Lord would shower other blessings on those in the bed of affliction. Irrespective of how they feel, God, he assured, will not permit the expectations of their enemies to be realised. In their moment of weakness, while languishing in the bed of affliction, and all hope of recovery wanes, the Lord will strengthen them; He will intervene and make them well again.
Believers must never lose sight of God’s provisions when facing circumstances of life that seem overwhelming. This could be in the form of sickness of the body or even a deep feeling of depression and loneliness. At such a time, prayer may become difficult, but we must defy all odds and turn to the Lord in a passionate plea for mercy. When everything else fails, God’s mercy does not waver. Whether in sickness or affliction, weak or fainting, lonely or forsaken by close acquaintances, we must remember that the merciful and gracious God is on our side. And at such times, His promises are sure and unfailing. We should trust in the Lord, “For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.”
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: God will not abandon or forsake those who turn to Him in their despair.
