DCLM Daily Manna 2025: DCLM Daily Manna 30 December 2025: Be Thankful
Text: Psalm 103:1–5 (KJV)
Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
KEY VERSE: Psalm 103:2
“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”
A devout king was once disturbed by the ingratitude of his royal court. To address this, he organised a banquet for them. During the feast, a beggar walked in, ate heartily, and left without expressing any gratitude.
The guests were furious and demanded punishment for the beggar. However, the king surprised them by pointing out that they were no different. Just as the beggar ate without appreciation, they also enjoyed God’s daily provisions without acknowledging Him. The story is a powerful reminder that gratitude should never be taken lightly.
In today’s passage, David outlines five major reasons for thanksgiving, which he collectively refers to as “all His benefits.”
These include forgiveness of sins, healing of diseases, redemption from destruction, the crown of lovingkindness and tender mercies, and satisfaction with good things. Sadly, many believers underestimate the value of salvation and forgiveness.
Being alive, healthy, clothed, fed, and free places us among the most privileged people in the world, while countless others lack even these basic necessities.
The fact that God fills our mouths with good things is a compelling reason for gratitude. Reports from international bodies highlight millions suffering from hunger and malnutrition.
Yet, many of us eat daily without struggle. Furthermore, God preserves our health in a world where hospitals are overcrowded with the sick and injured. Our highways, seaways, and airways are fraught with danger, with frequent reports of accidents.
That we travel these same routes safely is sufficient reason to continually praise the Lord.
We praise God for who He is and thank Him for what He does. Those who cultivate a lifestyle of praise always find fresh reasons to be thankful because God continues to bless them.
Instead of focusing solely on new requests, we should reflect on answered prayers and mercies already received. Gratitude should be a constant attitude in the life of every believer.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Thankfulness is a spontaneous application for more blessings.
