DCLM Daily Manna 2025: DCLM Daily Manna 27 October 2025: The Pursuit of the Heavenly-Minded
Text: Philippians 3:17–21 (KJV)
Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
KEY VERSE: “For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.” – (Philippians 3:20)
Seeking to convey the unique attributes of heaven and what it takes to get there, one prominent minister of God once said, “Heaven is a prepared place for a prepared people, and they that enter shall find that they are either unknown or unexpected.”
In today’s passage, Apostle Paul presents himself and his associates as godly examples to emulate. He urges the Philippian believers to follow their pattern of life, focused on the pursuit of heaven. He warns them not to be influenced by those whose lives are driven by selfish desires and worldly appetites, describing them as enemies of the cross. These individuals live for earthly pleasures, and Paul lamented deeply over their sinful ways.
This kind of concern is characteristic of all godly men and women throughout history. Even our Lord Jesus Christ wept over Jerusalem’s unbelief and hypocrisy (Luke 13:34). Sadly, in today’s Church, genuine tears over sin and falsehood have been replaced by worldliness and permissiveness. Many now excuse immorality as mere weakness, while love for money has replaced the passion for souls. The deep longing for the power and purity of the Spirit in ministry has been overtaken by eloquence and human philosophies.
However, believers must remember that our hope transcends this present world. We are citizens of heaven, the city whose builder and maker is God. This truth should anchor our faith amid trials, persecutions, and temptations. Therefore, we must labour diligently to strengthen weaker believers, encourage the faint-hearted, restore the fallen, and fight against false doctrines through steadfast faith in Christ. Do not give up! Your labour in the Lord will be richly rewarded. Stay faithful, hold fast to the truth, and continue to contend earnestly for the faith once delivered to the saints.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
If you are heaven-bound, it will reflect in the way you live in this present world.
