DCLM Daily Manna 2025: DCLM Daily Manna 27 May 2025: Jesus, the Source of Life
Text: Proverbs 8:30-36 (KJV)
Then I was beside Him as a master craftsman;
And I was daily His delight,
Rejoicing always before Him,
31 Rejoicing in His inhabited world,
And my delight was with the sons of men.
32 “Now therefore, listen to me, my children,
For blessed are those who keep my ways.
33 Hear instruction and be wise,
And do not disdain it.
34 Blessed is the man who listens to me,
Watching daily at my gates,
Waiting at the posts of my doors.
35 For whoever finds me finds life,
And obtains favor from the Lord;
36 But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul;
All those who hate me love death.”
KEY VERSE: (Proverbs 8:35) For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.
Fulfilment in this life indeed consists in identifying and pursuing a compelling mission. However, those who are strangers to true wisdom have pursued mere happiness, success, recognition, and fame to their own detriment. Some pay any price to achieve these mundane only to arrive there and discover that the satisfaction they seek is elusive. Only a few people discover the true essence of living.
Today’s text gives us an idea of the path to that fulfilling life. It talks about wisdom and the blessedness of attending to its counsels and the misery of those who despise it. Here, wisdom is personified and, indeed, is used as a metaphor that in a sense applies to our Lord Jesus Christ and His divinity, incarnation, and the necessity of accepting Him as the only Saviour and Lord. Of Him, the Bible says, “…he is before all things, and by him all things consist. In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 1:17,2:3). This wisdom cries out “…whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.” Christ made it clear: “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6).
The moment a person has personal experiential knowledge of Christ, he experiences joy, peace, and liberation that are beyond the wealth, fame, and successes of this world. There is an inner yearning in every man that only God can satisfy, a void that only He can fill. The more you drift from Him, the vaster the vacuum. But Christ Jesus paid the price to bridge the gap between you and God “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God” (1 Peter 3:18).
If you have not repented and confessed your sins to God and placed your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, taking Him as Lord and Saviour, heed the voice of wisdom today. Do it. Humbly go to God in prayer. Christ is ready to come into your heart and transform you. If you already have Christ in you, endeavour to continue in the path of righteousness, remembering that the essence of life is in this Wisdom who cried: “he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.”
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: I’ve found the sweet of life – it is in Christ Jesus!
