DCLM Daily Manna 2025: DCLM Daily Manna 22 October 2025: Remember Me, Oh God
Text: Psalm 132:1–3 (KJV)
Lord, remember David
And all his afflictions;
2 How he swore to the Lord,
And vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:
3 “Surely I will not go into the chamber of my house,
Or go up to the comfort of my bed;
KEY VERSE: “LORD, remember David, and all his afflictions.” – (Psalm 132:1)
One of our greatest prayers is the supplication to God for remembrance. It is a humble request for God’s mercy and loving kindness. In our text, the petitioners asked God to remember David, citing his afflictions and good works as additional reasons for the Lord to be merciful unto his posterity.
When God remembers an individual, great and positive things happen in their life. When God caused King Ahasuerus to open the book of remembrance concerning Mordecai, his death sentence was changed to honour and exaltation (Esther 6). When God remembered Noah, the flood ceased (Genesis 8:1). When God remembered Rachel, barrenness and cruel mocking became a thing of the past. The simple plea for remembrance paved the way for the thief on the cross into paradise (Luke 23:42). When God remembers you, He will rescue you from any turbulent situation (Isaiah 43:2).
David’s good deeds cited in this psalm were not intended to bargain with God or force Him to answer prayer based on merit. Instead, they were like the supporting documents attached to an application. Hezekiah adopted the same approach when Prophet Isaiah conveyed God’s message to him that “thou shall die, and not live.” He turned his face to the wall and prayed to God, reminding Him how he had walked before Him with a perfect heart and done what was good in His sight. God immediately cancelled the death sentence and added fifteen years to his lifespan. The question is: What can God remember you for
If the deeds of an individual or a group of people are evil, the plea for remembrance will not receive a positive answer from God. Sin and disobedience will make God punish His children as He did to Israel. If you are living right, God will hear you in the day of trouble and send you help whenever you pray to Him to remember you.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
The plea, “LORD, remember me…” has power only when uttered by a true child of God.
