DCLM Daily Manna 2025: DCLM Daily Manna 20 November 2025: The Need For Intercessors
Text: Ezekiel 22:23-31 (KJV)
And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
24 Son of man, say unto her, Thou art the land that is not cleansed, nor rained upon in the day of indignation.
25 There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst thereof.
26 Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.
27 Her princes in the midst thereof are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain.
28 And her prophets have daubed them with untempered morter, seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord God, when the Lord hath not spoken.
29 The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully.
30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.
31 Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord God.
KEY VERSE: Ezekiel 22:30
“And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.” –
In today’s world, many preachers attempt to portray God as so loving and indulgent that He overlooks sin, as if the atonement of Christ gives believers a license to live carelessly. They overemphasize His compassion while ignoring His justice. Yet the Scripture makes it abundantly clear that “The soul that sinneth, it shall die.”
God has never excused sin among His people. Even Jesus – the perfect embodiment of love – spoke more about judgment than any other person in Scripture. Real love warns, corrects, and leads people away from destruction.
Our passage reveals a balanced picture of God:
He is merciful, gracious, and loving,
Yet He is also holy, just, and uncompromising with sin.
Israel had become corrupt—its prophets, princes, priests, and people had all descended into violence, conspiracy, and rebellion. God did not desire to destroy the nation; He sought someone who would intercede, stand in the gap, and plead for mercy on behalf of the land. Sadly, He found none.
This divine search continues today. God is still looking for men and women who will:
Stand in the gap for nations, families, and backsliders.
Pray fervently for revival and righteousness.
Speak the truth boldly to both the mighty and the humble.
Live uprightly and turn others back to God.
The world needs modern-day Moseses, Elijahs, Daniels, Annas, and Pauls—intercessors who will cry out for mercy rather than watch souls perish.
You can be that intercessor!
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
God still needs intercessors! Will you answer the call?
