DCLM Daily Manna 2025: DCLM Daily Manna 18 February 2025: The Preeminence of Christ
Text: Colossians 1:14-20 (KJV)
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
KEY VERSE: Colossians 1:18
“And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the first born from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.”
The late R. G. Lee wrote that Christ’s crucifixion is mentioned in every book of the New Testament except Philemon, (2 John), and (3 John). Lee wrote that Matthew mentioned the crucifixion in 141 verses; Mark gave 116 verses to crucifixion; Luke devoted two long chapters to Christ’s arrest and crucifixion; and John used half his gospel to deal with the events immediately preceding the crucifixion. Lee declared: “Taking the cross out of our preaching, whether that preaching be in a tent, crude tabernacle, the isolated church up the creek, the country church, or the big church in the city. It is like taking heat out of fire, melody out of music, numbers out of mathematics, fact out of history, mind out of metaphysics, words out of vocabularies.
It is an incontrovertible fact that mortals might not be able to see God and live. But the immortal God is revealed to humans through the manifestation of Christ so as to live eternally, as revealed in our text. Jesus Christ is the visible manifestation of the invisible God. He is our all-in-all. His death and resurrection are the hallmarks of the gospel message.
God created humans through Christ. Both visible and invisible things were created by Him. The Lord Jesus is both the Redeemer of the fallen man and the Head of the church, which represents His body. Simply put, the Lord Jesus is the ‘Beginner’ of every creation of God. He is not a created being; He lives in eternity. As the Creator of all things, He superintends over all creation and maintains the entire creation as He wills. He is the manifestation of the fulness of the Godhead. Without Christ’s input humanity is a non-entity.
The wise will embrace Christ as Lord over his/her life. The family or the community that rests its faith unequivocally in the sacrificial blood of Christ enjoys God’s peace and blessing without the addition of sorrows. God distances Himself from every creature that disavows the preeminence of Christ over its existence. Let Christ rule your life if you desire to live a bounteous, beautiful, and blessed life on earth and in heaven.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Divine presence is assured when Christ is preeminent in your life.
