DCLM Daily Manna 2025: DCLM Daily Manna 11 November 2025: The Dependable Deliverer
Text: 2 Samuel 22:11–23 (KJV)
He rode upon a cherub, and flew;
And He [a]was seen upon the wings of the wind.
12 He made darkness canopies around Him,
Dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.
13 From the brightness before Him
Coals of fire were kindled.
14 “The Lord thundered from heaven,
And the Most High uttered His voice.
15 He sent out arrows and scattered them;
Lightning bolts, and He vanquished them.
16 Then the channels of the sea were seen,
The foundations of the world were uncovered,
At the rebuke of the Lord,
At the blast of the breath of His nostrils.
17 “He sent from above, He took me,
He drew me out of many waters.
18 He delivered me from my strong enemy,
From those who hated me;
For they were too strong for me.
19 They confronted me in the day of my calamity,
But the Lord was my support.
20 He also brought me out into a broad place;
He delivered me because He delighted in me.
21 “The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness;
According to the cleanness of my hands
He has recompensed me.
22 For I have kept the ways of the Lord,
And have not wickedly departed from my God.
23 For all His judgments were before me;
And as for His statutes, I did not depart from them.
KEY VERSE: 2 Samuel 22:19 (KJV) “They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay.”
David Livingstone, the foremost missionary to Africa, confidently proclaimed,
“I go through the hazards of Africa and Jesus is by my side… without Christ, not one step; with Him, anywhere!”
Similarly, Ruth Bryan, the virtuous Puritan author, once wrote,
“My precious Jesus is my rest and refreshing, in all my weariness. As I lean on Him, I triumph!”
In our text, David recounts how God delivered him from all his enemies and upheld him in times of distress. He triumphed because he obeyed God’s Word and made the Lord his faithful companion in every trial. Many saints of old have likewise testified to the steadfastness of Christ’s companionship—especially when all human help failed.
It is futile to seek true companionship or peace in money, power, position, materialism, occultism, or indulgence. One wealthy businessman once confessed, “I have everything money can buy except peace of mind.”
A famous celebrity also lamented, “I used to hide my pain by pretending everything was okay. I smiled through emptiness, laughed through sorrow, and used escapism to numb my feelings. But none of it gave me real peace.”
Only God gives enduring peace, joy, and deliverance. Confidence in people—family, friends, or even fellow believers—will always have limits because human beings are imperfect and constrained. But Jesus never fails; His power, wisdom, and love are limitless.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
When all you have is God, then you have all you need.
