DCLM Daily Manna 2024: DCLM Daily Manna 10 December 2024: Sin Defeated
Text: Micah 7:16-20 (KJV)
16 The nations shall see and be confounded at all their might: they shall lay their hand upon their mouth, their ears shall be deaf.
17 They shall lick the dust like a serpent, they shall move out of their holes like worms of the earth: they shall be afraid of the LORD our God, and shall fear because of thee.
18 Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.
19 He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.
20 Thou wilt perform the truth to Jacob, and the mercy to Abraham, which thou hast sworn unto our fathers from the days of old.
KEY VERSE: Micah 7:19
“He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.”
Sin creeps in when people are not watchful. But sometimes, it sweeps in a flourished way. When sin appeared in the Garden of Eden, it overwhelmed man. God’s response was also not in stages but in total measures. He moved against it, swiftly meting out justice to the sinful Adam and his wife, Eve. The final blow was His plan to send Jesus to “bruise” the head of the devil, the source of sin. It was a once-and-for-all answer to the sin question.
Thousands of years later, God repeated His stance on transgressions through Micah, the prophet of Judah. He still detests iniquity since He is “of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity.” However, there would be pardon for those who sincerely seek mercy and make a clean break from wrongdoings.
The Lord says He would do this by casting all our sins into the “depths of the sea.” He will not deposit them by the seashore where they could find their way back into men’s lives. There will be no room for sin to flow back from the bottomless oceans. This speaks of a world order where the Prince of peace is in charge of those He has redeemed from the power of Satan and sin. Micah says this will fulfil God’s original covenant with Israel.
God’s decision to bring in the ‘seed’ of the woman to overthrow sin and the devil has been realised. He has sent His prophets and evangelists throughout the generations to remind man of His mercy and compassion, long-suffering and the need for repentance, before it is too late. God has done His part; it now remains for man to play his role by turning wholeheartedly to Jesus Christ through repentance and faith in Him.
