A former manager of the international pop singer Dapo Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’banj, Franklin Amudo has narrated his own side of the story regarding the rape allegation levelled against his former artist, by one Seyitan Babatayo. The lady had accused the music star of raping her in a hotel few years ago in Lagos.
Franklin in a statement yesterday confirmed that he invited Seyitan to attend an event in 2018 in Lagos where D’banj performed. He also stated that Seyitan called him a day after the show to inform him that the singer had raped her after forcing his way into her hotel room.
Franklin said he was shocked on receiving the information, wondering how the singer forced his way to the room because he never disclosed the room number to him.
“After I got the information, I immediately reached out to Ajia Mohammed and informed him of what Seyitan said but Mohammed told me not to worry about it, that Seyitan had been given a $100, he said.
“I was unable to ask DBanj at the time because it was the same period he lost his son and I felt it would be insensitive for me to discuss such a thing with him.”
He confirmed that after the show the lady couldn’t go back home, as it was late, prompting him to give his room key to her as he didn’t sleep in the room. This was because, he had to go home to prepare for an early morning flight to Accra, Ghana.
Franklin has since been accused of masterminding the act to set-up the music act, as some have alleged that he is fond of arranging girls for music acts. A claim he has since denied, describing it as unscrupulous, malicious and mischievous.
