In an unexpected twist to the long-standing rift within Nigeria’s iconic music group, P-Square, veteran Afrobeats star D’banj has called on the Federal Government to intervene in the family dispute involving twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye, and their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye.
Speaking during an interview on Adesope Live, D’banj described the ongoing feud as “very sad” and stressed that the situation had escalated beyond the scope of their colleagues in the music industry.
“When you want to fight, you only know the beginning; you really do not know the end — even if you are right or wrong,” D’banj said, appealing to national authorities to mediate the crisis. “This is beyond us, their colleagues. It has to be someone they would respect — if possible, the nation.”
He drew parallels with a past incident involving former Super Eagles captain Jay-Jay Okocha, whose funds were trapped when a Nigerian bank collapsed. According to D’banj, then-President Olusegun Obasanjo stepped in to ensure the football legend was compensated. “The President said, ‘This boy who has made us proud — get him his money.’”
D’banj’s appeal highlights growing concern over the lasting fallout among one of Nigeria’s most successful music groups. Despite brief reunions, tensions between the brothers have remained unresolved, drawing attention from fans, fellow artists, and now, potentially, the government.
