▪︎Inspects Opobo Ring Road, Bori Internal Roads, others
The Rivers State Commissioner for Works, Dr George-Kelly D. Alabo, FNIQS, DSSRS has expressed satisfaction with the level and quality of work being done on the Andoni section of Ogoni/Opobo/Nkoro/Andoni Unity Road project.
The Honourable Commissioner lauded Monier Construction Company (Nigeria) Limited for achieving close to 50 percent completion in less than three months. He maintained that with the pace at which the work is going, he is optimistic that they will cover significant mileage in the next three months.
Dr. George-Kelly made the assertion in the course of a routine inspection of various road projects being constructed by the Rivers State Government in Rivers South-East Senatorial District.
“I am happy with what MCC is doing here, it is highly commendable that they have achieved close to 50 percent in less than three months. This is something the former contractors of this project could not achieve. The difference is very clear.
“We should not also fail to acknowledge the fact that it is Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s financial commitment to this project that has aided the contractor’s success so far. With the way they are going, they will cover significant mileage in the next three months,” he added.
The Commissioner also inspected Opobo Ring Road, Bori Internal Road, Port Harcourt Ring Road projects, as well as a the recently completed Indorama-Agbonchia-Ogale-Eteo-Ebubu Road.
Speaking to reporters at the Opobo Ring Road project site, Dr. George-Kelly said: “They have started soil cement stabilisation already, they will start constructing the first bridge by next week, Opobo Ring Road has a total of three bridges.”
