The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced it will begin nationwide distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel from August 15, 2025. The move marks a major milestone in Nigeria’s energy sector and is expected to ease fuel scarcity, reduce distribution costs, and revive idle fuel stations across the country.
Located in the Lekki Free Trade Zone in Lagos, the refinery is launching an ambitious logistics rollout, including the deployment of 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tankers. The vehicles will support fuel delivery to both urban and remote communities, enhancing nationwide access to petroleum products.
The refinery is also investing in CNG daughter booster stations and over 100 CNG logistics tankers as part of its push for a sustainable, environmentally friendly fuel distribution model.
In a statement issued over the weekend, the refinery’s management said the initiative is designed to provide direct access to PMS and diesel for marketers, petrol station operators, manufacturers, telecom firms, the aviation sector, and other industrial users. It also includes free logistics support and aims to reduce dependence on intermediaries.
“Our goal is to eliminate logistics costs, enhance energy efficiency, and make fuel more accessible and affordable for all Nigerians,” the refinery stated.
To boost bulk purchases, Dangote Refinery will introduce a credit facility allowing buyers to access an additional 500,000 litres of fuel on credit when they purchase a minimum of 500,000 litres, with repayment due within two weeks, subject to bank guarantees.
The refinery said the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, praising the Federal Government’s support through the Naira-for-Crude scheme, which has helped ensure domestic fuel stability amid global volatility.
Industry observers have hailed the development as a transformative step that could redefine Nigeria’s fuel distribution landscape, lower costs, and support economic growth.
