KEY VERSE: “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?” – (Romans 11:33,34).
TEXT: Romans 11:25-36
25 For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own [a]opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. 26 And so all Israel will be [b]saved, as it is written:
“The Deliverer will come out of Zion,
And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob;
27 For this is My covenant with them,
When I take away their sins.”
28 Concerning the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but concerning the election they are beloved for the sake of the fathers. 29 For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. 30 For as you were once disobedient to God, yet have now obtained mercy through their disobedience, 31 even so these also have now been disobedient, that through the mercy shown you they also may obtain mercy. 32 For God has [c]committed them all to disobedience, that He might have mercy on all.
33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!
34 “For who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has become His counselor?”
35 “Or who has first given to Him
And it shall be repaid to him?”
36 For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.

Some time ago at a Christian conference, a young woman was given an opportunity to share her personal call to the Christian faith and her walk with God. In the process, she held up a blank sheet of paper, saying that it contained God’s plan for her. The only writing on it was her signature at the bottom. Then she said, “I have accepted God’s will without knowing what it is, and I am leaving it to Him to fill in the details”.
In our text, Apostle Paul highlighted the mind of God towards the unbelief in Israel and the plan God had for the Gentiles who were once seen as outcasts. While working with Israel, God had the intention to bring the Gentiles nearer to Him. This was to be fulfilled in the birth, life, ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Most of them were blinded by the fact that God had an everlasting covenant with Abraham. They felt God could not do without them nor would He want to love any other race apart from the seeds of Abraham. While they were playing the race card, God was handing out the grace card to the Gentiles through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Despite the height of human civilization, people are ever in need of counselling and advisory services. The singles want to know whom to marry whilst the married want to know how best to keep their marriages as heaven on earth. But whilst we look for counsellors, do we care enough to know the mind of God concerning any of these matters?
Knowing the mind and will of God is the ultimate in any of our life’s purposes and pursuits. If we can trust experts, should we not trust God to help us in deciding where to spend eternity as we repent? Knowing His plans and purposes for us is always for our own good. We should confidently hand over our goals and plans in plain papers to Him, asking Him to fill in the blank.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Whatever God does is for our good.
