18. Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.

The people of the world are used to unbelief. They have cornered themselves into a cosmos that deny them the bright prospects of knowing the God who specialises in what man calls impossibilities. Their worldview is littered with statements such as ‘there is nothing new under the sun’ and ‘can something new come from this aged planet about to die?’. Yet, over and over again, the Bible echoes and re-echoes: God is able to do all things.
In the book of Exodus, God parted the roaring waves of the Red Sea and converted its depths into a highway as an escape route for His people. Surely, that was humanly impossible. But with the Lord it became possible. From the text, our great God again said He will do something new. He said He would “even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert”. This goes beyond human knowledge and reasoning. It means there is nothing impossible with God.
Our Lord always moves into new grounds to manifest Himself to the works of His Hands. He does so to tell us that we can trust Him to turn the impossibilities of our lives into possibilities.
Therefore, as the believer moves into the day today, he is assured of something new from the Lord. The condition to receiving it is to have faith in God. However, the unbeliever is barred from these new things until he is saved.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The new life in Christ attracts new blessings from heaven all year-round.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Revelation 15-17
